Ben is co-head of the general sector advisory team at RMB, Clairfield\u2019s partner in South Africa. He has over two decades of investment banking experience, with a focus on crossborder M&A across the African continent.<\/p>\n
Before joining the firm, Ben held senior investment banking roles at Nomura in both London and Johannesburg, including as co-head of Nomura\u2019s South African investment banking business. He was also a founding partner of the independent advisory firm Newman Lowther & Associates.<\/p>\n
Ben has advised on numerous high-profile M&A and corporate finance transactions. On the sell side, he has worked on the ZAR 7.3 billion proposed sale of Peermont Global to Sun International; the creation of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa through a three-way merger involving Coca-Cola Sabco, SABMiller, and TCCC; the sale of a 33% stake in Promasidor to Ajinomoto; and the merger of Remgro and the restructuring of Remgro\u2019s stake in Distell. On the buy side, he advised on NTT\u2019s \u00a32.1 billion acquisition of Dimension Data; The Coca-Cola Company\u2019s US$3.2 billion acquisition of AB InBev\u2019s stake in Coca-Cola Beverages Africa; Heineken\u2019s acquisition of control of Distell and Namibian Breweries; and the \u00a36.1 billion take-private of Mediclinic International by Remgro and MSC.<\/p>\n
Ben graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in economics and accounting and holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town, including an exchange at UCLA\u2019s Anderson School of Management.<\/p>\n
