Marcel Franzen

Marcel has over 25 years’ experience in global corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions advisory. He advises listed companies, family-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, financial sponsors and family offices on complex M&A and capital markets transactions, with a particular focus on Swiss cross-border situations. Over his career, Marcel has executed more than 50 M&A advisory mandates.

In addition to M&A, Marcel has extensive capital markets experience, having advised on IPO preparations, rights issues, equity offerings and alternative financing solutions.

Marcel began his career in 1999 at Merrill Lynch in New York and London. Between 2006 and 2013, he played a key role in building Morgan Stanley’s Swiss investment banking activities from London and Zurich, advising on a range of high-profile transactions. He subsequently became a Partner at Swiss Capital Group (now Alantra) before founding Franzen & Company AG, now operating as Clairfield Switzerland, in Zurich in 2013.

Marcel holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG).

He regularly works directly with shareholders, boards and management teams throughout the full transaction lifecycle, from strategic preparation to execution and closing.
