Albert Schander wins Finance Monthly Dealmaker award
Albert Schander, partner and co-founder of Clairfield International, was one of five senior bankers awarded with the Finance Monthly “Dealmaker of the Year 2019 Germany” trophy for his leadership role in the crossborder sale of Spitznas and Transtools to ARCUS Capital AG.
Finance Monthly is a global publication delivering corporate news, comment and analysis. The awards celebrate the achievements and innovations of standout global dealmakers. The awards are based on deals completed in the fiscal year 2017/18.
Spitznas Maschinenfabrik GmbH, located in Velbert, Germany, is a developer, manufacturer and distributor of pneumatic and hydraulic power tools, hydraulic spare parts for pumps and motors, and hydrostatic compact drives used in various industrial environments. Transtools Sp. z.o.o., located in Lublin, Poland, is a wholesaler for hand-operated tools and manages Spitznas’ mechanical production as well as its exclusive distribution in Poland. Arcus Capital AG, located in Munich, and founded in 1994 by entrepreneurs, is a private equity firm focusing on midcap investments in special situations.
The transaction completes the succession plan of the Spitznas and Transtools owners to bring the group under the stewardship of an institutional owner with a proven track record in growing business abroad.
Albert Schander has spearheaded many renowned crossborder transactions involving global leaders in their respective industry segments including Coca-Cola, Henkel, BidVest Foodservice, Schuler, Foton, WeiChai, Südwolle and many others in his years as a dealmaker at Clairfield International. Prior to Clairfield, Albert worked as co-head of corporate finance for an international investment banking group where he was responsible for international equity financing projects and IPOs. Further milestones in his career were BAI (Deutsche Bank Group) in Milan, KPMG in Milan, and Lehman Brothers in Frankfurt. Albert studied law and economics at the Universities of Passau, Pavia in Italy and Munich and is qualified as an attorney-at-law in Germany. He earned his law degree from Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich and his Ph.D. from Friedrich-Schiller-University of Jena. Albert is founder and managing partner of Clairfield in Germany and a member of the board of Clairfield International.
