Taakaaki Hirai

Takaaki Hirai is general manager at Clairfield in China where he has over ten years of experience in business consulting, with a focus on supporting Japanese companies operating in the Chinese market. Since joining the firm in 2011, he has advised clients across every stage of their market entry and operational lifecycle, from initial expansion to restructuring and exit.

Takaaki established the Shanghai office in 2012, and he has played a central role in building the firm’s capabilities in Chinese and Japanese investment and crossborder M&A. His consulting work includes market research, strategy planning, revitalisation of underperforming subsidiaries, and support for liquidation or divestiture processes. Takaaki’s deep understanding of both business cultures and regulatory environments enables him to provide tailored solutions to clients navigating complex crossborder challenges.

Takaaki graduated from the College of Business Administration at Ritsumeikan University in Japan.
