Clairfield advised WGA (Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec) on its sale to AtkinsRéalis
This crossborder transaction brings an established Australian and New Zealand consultancy into a global engineering services group.
The parties
WGA is a regionally embedded, employee-owned consultancy with more than 40 years’ history across Australia and New Zealand. Over 800 people work across its practice. The firm serves transport, water, power, ports, defence, buildings, resources, urban development, and sports infrastructure.
AtkinsRéalis is a global engineering services and nuclear group. It combines the heritage of Atkins and SNC-Lavalin. The group works across buildings, transportation, defence, resources, and power and renewables.
The outcome
AtkinsRéalis acquired WGA. The deal gives WGA access to the group’s global technical capability, investment strength, and international reach. WGA can draw on this broader platform to support large, complex infrastructure programmes across Australia and New Zealand.
Clairfield’s role
Clairfield’s partner in Australia, Interfinancial-Clairfield acted as exclusive advisor to WGA. The team led the process from start to finish, working closely with WGA’s board, management, and other advisors to keep the transaction moving at pace. In negotiations on price and terms, the team paired firm negotiation with creative thinking. It also protected the strong relationship WGA had built with AtkinsRéalis.
“InterFinancial-Clairfield did an outstanding job in driving the process from start to finish. It was a complex transaction, and throughout the journey they provided thoughtful guidance and practical solutions that helped us navigate key decisions with confidence. The result has placed our business in an excellent position for future growth and success.”
