Eurovetro sold to Quarzwerke Group
Eurovetro, an Italian glass recycling business, was sold to the Quarzwerke Group, a German producer of mineral raw materials.
Eurovetro, has a 70 year-history, with three production plants in Italy and an annual turnover of more than EUR 50 million. The company collects and processes glass waste to produce new granulates and sands from recycled glass. Once remelted, these secondary raw materials become the key ingredient in producing new glass bottles and jars, making a direct and lasting contribution to the sustainability of the glass industry.
Quarzwerke Group, with sales of more than EUR 500 million, has a 140-year history. As an independent, family-managed company, Quarzwerke combines high-quality raw material resources with state-of-the-art, efficient processing technologies, and is guided by principles of sustainability and environmental responsibility. The company’s core focus lies in the production and processing of premium mineral raw materials. In particular, quartz, kaolin, feldspar, and wollastonite are refined into more than 700 different quality products, including high performance fillers, and sold in over 50 countries worldwide.
The partnership between the two countries internationalises the glass recycling business and the sustainable raw materials supply chain. New uses for recycled glass will continue to grow as investment in R&D increases, both within the glass industry and in other industries.
